Martha wants jackie
Jackie wants william
But william wants leroy
But leroy is straight

He couldn’t commit to
The mental jujitsu
Of switchin’ his hittin’
From ladies to men

Elliott Smith - Grand Mal

Unreleased track that turned up this week.

Melbourne, I love you but you’re bringing me down (part 1)
Part #1 of my grumblings about the city I love.
I went to see the brilliant Handsome Furs last week. They had so much energy and were genuinely appreciative of how many people came along.
What really bugged me is the amount of people who just stood there, not willing to engage, move or seemingly have fun (presumably because it is not the done thing on ‘the scene’). Now I know not everyone is a dancer, but it seems like Melbournites are too cool to to enjoy themselves. Perhaps they could take a leaf out of the two coolest people in the room’s book (the people on stage) and let loose and have some fun for once.
